Chicago – Special Street Moments
Chicago street moments. Urban or “street” was the genre that really hooked me into the art form of photography. I had always loved photography in general growing up, but after moving to Boston and working in the financial district, I started taking more urban photographs. It was just the environment I was in everyday. It was like a snowball. For inspiration, I found some great urban/street photographers online and was memorized by some of their work. I started reading more and more about the art and technique, practicing more and more, and joined the Arcanum as this momentum inside of me kept building. I needed to take photographs. It sometimes feels and sounds like an addiction!
I’m not Eric Kim or that guy that flashes unaware people in the face. Before taking a photo, I’ll ask first or take a more environmental shot or no one is even aware I took a photograph. Or in some cases, someone might ask me to take their photo or just spontaneously start posing! I never want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I also don’t sell any of the street shots. It just wouldn’t feel right, profiting off strangers in the street that never know what people are doing with their photos.
So that being said, Chicago was a place where I found many people were open and confident. Or maybe I was more open and confident 🙂 Either way, I found some cool moments with cool people. See them below!
